Today is the greatest day . . . can't live for tomorrow, tomorrow's much too long.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're going to see the Smashing Pumpkins in concert on November 7th, 2008 at 8:00 pm at the United Palace Theatre. Part hysterical excitement, part disbelief.
I've waited for this for about 18 years. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of my favorite albums of all time. Thirty-Three is one of my favorite songs. Siamese Dream defined a part of my tumultuous high school years. And the beautiful artwork that was Tonight Tonight. I really hope they play a good chunk of their old songs. Artists are starving to share their new music with their fans (understandably so) but fans are only craving their old stuff that they fell in love with in the first place.
The tickets for their two shows (Nov 6 & Nov 7) sold out in a New York minute (esp with some crappy pre-show sales to vip Amecian Express members). We're surprised we got tickets, although they are in the "need binoculars" section. But we're gonna be there so who cares, and who cares that we have to do 19 subway stops all the way up to 175th street to hear them live!
We're still debating whether we can afford to see Maxwell in concert as well. But really. we're waiting for Stevie Wonder more than anyone else.
