As we mentioned in our post below, we got our lobster roll freak on at the Brooklyn Bridge Flea. So here it is. The beautiful Red Hook Lobster Pound lobster roll!!! Very fresh, plump lobster claw chunks that were seasoned very gently and served on a perfectly toasted buttery bun. We appreciate that they were light handed with the mayo because the star was clearly the lobster. We were surprised by the ample amount of lobster chunks that made parting with $13 less painful. It was worth every penny. We could have easily had two rolls each (if not for the lack of cash), because that's just how us piggies roll. We can't imagine a better lobster roll existing in this world. This one will be hard to top.
Thank you and damn you Red Hook Lobster Pound! You've ruined us. Don't you know we're moving soon and won't be able to have your incredible lobster rolls again for a very long time? What's the matter with you people? Very cruel.
When they're not feeding oinkers like us at both Brooklyn fleas, Red Hook Lobster Pound sells live Maine lobsters out of two large tanks from their storefront on Van Brunt Street in Red Hook. The business is run by a husband and wife team that buys about 1,000 pounds of fresh lobsters off boats rather than from pounds where they might not be as fresh. The lobsters go on sale at noon on Fridays (at about $9 to $10 a pound) and they normally sell out.
